Weekend Snapshot: A Weekend in COMO

This past weekend, I hopped in my car and ventured to Columbia, Missouri, known to many as a college town. I was going back to my old school Stephens College for their annual fashion show. Had I remained a student at Stephens, this year would’ve been my last and I, too, would’ve have felt bittersweet for the graduation to come. But, instead, I was here to visit my good friends and show them support for the fashion show.

When I arrived, I felt like I was going back in time. It’s crazy to think how quickly three years have gone by and what my life would be like now if I were still a student at Stephens. I quickly met up with my friend Brittany and got caught up with the last few years of each other’s lives. Afterwards, we walked around Downtown Columbia, where we grabbed a bite to eat at Main Squeeze. I had the so fresh and so green juice with the Buddha Bowl and my friend had the Mackin Cheese. Of course we had to squeeze in time to shop before going to the dress rehearsals for the fashion show. We stopped by The Greens to check out the clothing there. The rest of the evening consisted of helping my friend prepare for the fashion show.

Saturday, aka show day! That morning I got up and got ready for the show. My friend arrived early to get her hair and makeup done. I arrived a few hours later to set up my camera and figure out my settings. Then it was show time. In each collection you can see all the hard work and passion that went into each garment. After the first two shows, I headed over to Kaldi’s Coffee to meet up with an old friend from middle school. We spent some time enjoying coffee and catching up. Afterwards, it was time to party. I went back to my friend’s dorm and we both got glammed up for our evening of celebrating. That night, the designers, models, makeup artists, and production team got together to enjoy the success of the fashion show. We all laughed, drank, and danced the night away.

That morning my friend and I got up early so that we could grab some brunch before I had to head back. We stopped at Nourish, and each ordered a bowl. Me ordering the Pesto Bowl, and her ordering the Paleo Chili and Eggs. I really like that café because of its vibe and the healthy food options they offer, so it was nice to stop by again. We stopped by one of my favorite spots before I left (Hot Box Cookies) so I could pick up a box of cookies for my coworkers. Then it was time to head back home.

Though, it was a short time spent with my old college friends I’m so happy that I was able to spend that time with them and support them in their final year. I can’t wait to get together with them again. Till next time.
